Investigation continues into death of man found beaten on Avondale street corner
Alexander Kazanowski, a 25-year-old Avondale man, tragically passed away after being found severely beaten on a street corner in the Northwest Side neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred in the early hours of March 24 when a passerby discovered Kazanowski lying facedown on the corner of Belmont and Harding. He was rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center by the Chicago Fire Department but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide, attributing it to head trauma sustained during the assault.
According to sources close to the case, it is believed that Kazanowski was walking home after a disagreement at a local bar when he was followed by the other party involved in the dispute. He leaves behind his partner, Tori, his daughter, Thea, and a son, John, who is soon to be born, as mentioned in his obituary.
Described as a man who lived life with passion and intensity, Kazanowski was known for his strong work ethic and diverse range of skills. From landscaping to tutoring, he pursued his dreams with determination and dedication. He was also a devout Christian who remained steadfast in his beliefs until the very end.
In 2023, Kazanowski co-owned an antique shop in Rogers Park that faced backlash and protests due to controversial comments made on his personal Facebook page. Despite the controversy, some residents defended his right to freedom of speech. The store, Boho Barbie Ken, initially received negative reviews but managed to bounce back and regain a positive reputation before eventually closing its doors.
The loss of Alexander Kazanowski has deeply impacted his loved ones and the community. His untimely death serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing each moment. He may have lived only 25 years, but his legacy and impact will be remembered for a lifetime.
