Jakob Marsee hits deep game-ending single in 10th to give Marlins 6-5 win over Mariners

The Miami Marlins secured a thrilling 6-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night, with Jakob Marsee delivering a game-ending single in the 10th inning. Marsee’s hit off the right field wall came with runners at the corners and one out, easily scoring Xavier Edwards, the automatic runner.

Cade Gibson played a crucial role in the Marlins’ victory, getting three outs in the top half of the 10th inning, including erasing Weston Wilson on his first pitch with a fielder’s-choice grounder to shortstop by Cal Raleigh.

The Marlins’ offense was led by pinch-hitter Heriberto Hernández and Owen Caissie, both hitting their 12th home runs of the season. Marsee also contributed with a run-scoring single in the third inning.

On the Mariners’ side, Raleigh had a strong performance, doubling twice and driving in a run during the three-run eighth inning. Josh Naylor followed with a key hit to put Seattle ahead 5-4 before the Marlins rallied back.

Cole Young’s homer in the fifth inning helped the Mariners erase an early 4-0 deficit, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

Looking ahead, RHP George Kirby will start for the Mariners on Wednesday against Marlins RHP Tyler Phillips.
