LAPD Shoots and Kills Dog As Owner Celebrates Knicks’ NBA Championship
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is under fire after fatally shooting a 2-year-old dog named Jameson. The incident occurred when officers responded to a call from a resident in a Canoga Park condo building who reported a screaming woman. According to the officers, Jameson rushed at them, prompting them to open fire.
However, Jameson’s owner, Marie Marseille, disputes this account. She claims that Jameson was not being aggressive and was simply moving towards the officers. In a heartbreaking scene captured on video, Marie can be seen wailing over her beloved dog’s lifeless body while surrounded by a group of officers.
Neighbors who witnessed the incident expressed outrage at the officers’ actions. One neighbor questioned the purpose of the police presence, while another sarcastically applauded their “good work.” Moments before the shooting, Marie had even taken a picture of Jameson wearing a New York Knicks jersey to celebrate the team’s win.
It later emerged that the screaming woman was actually celebrating the Knicks’ victory, leading the neighbor who called 911 to feel guilty for involving the police unnecessarily. This tragic incident adds to a string of controversies surrounding law enforcement in Los Angeles County, including a recent incident where a Pasadena PD officer accidentally shot another officer during an alleged “horseplay” incident.
The LAPD’s actions in this case have sparked outrage and calls for accountability. As the community mourns the loss of Jameson, questions remain about the use of lethal force in situations involving pets and the need for better training for law enforcement officers in handling such encounters.
