Macy’s stores set to close in California
Macy’s, a department store chain established in 1858, is closing 14 store locations across the country, including two in California.
In 2025, Macy’s closed 66 stores, including one in Los Angeles. The company announced in 2024 its plan to shut down 150 underperforming stores by the end of 2026, following the appointment of Tony Spring as the new CEO.

Two of the 14 stores set to close are in California – one in La Mesa at the Grossmont Center and another in Tracy at the West Valley Mall, as reported by the Desert Sun.
One store at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall in Tarentum, Penn., is scheduled to close on April 26, according to TribLive and WTAE.
The other stores listed below are expected to close sometime in the first half of this year, with specific closing dates yet to be confirmed.

- 17855 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila, Washington
Macy’s has not disclosed when the final wave of store closures will be announced before the end of the calendar year. The company plans to announce closures on a rolling basis as they evaluate regional store performances.
These closures are part of Macy’s strategy to reduce costs, focus on high-performing stores, and enhance luxury brands and digital shopping experiences for customers.
