Man suspected of killing 6 people at 2 residences in Florida: Authorities
A shocking series of connected homicides has left authorities in Florida reeling as they investigate the tragic events that unfolded. A man, identified as 51-year-old Russell Kot, is suspected of killing two people, one of whom he had a prior relationship with, before gunning down four more individuals at a separate location hundreds of miles away.
The devastating chain of events began when deputies in Sarasota County responded to a shooting at a residence in a gated community. Four people were found dead at the scene, including a man who was shot while approaching the front door. Two women and another man were also discovered inside the home, located in the Amberlea neighborhood.
Tragically, the suspect, Russell Kot, was also found dead in the home, with apparent self-inflicted wounds. Video evidence showed Kot’s vehicle entering the neighborhood shortly before gunshots were heard. A neighbor’s Ring camera captured the sound of gunfire, further highlighting the chaos that unfolded.
Meanwhile, over 200 miles away in Fort Lauderdale, police conducting a well-being check at a residence in the Victoria Park section discovered two more individuals dead inside. Authorities soon realized that the double homicide in Fort Lauderdale and the quadruple homicide in Sarasota County might be connected.
It was revealed that Kot had a previous romantic relationship with one of the Fort Lauderdale victims, tying the two crime scenes together. The victims were identified as Larisa Blyudaya, 46, and Ben Azivov, 18 in Fort Lauderdale, and Olga Greinert, 49; Florita Stolyar, 66; Anatoly Ioffe, 61; and Yaroslav Blyudoy, 39 in Sarasota County.
As the investigation continues, authorities are still trying to determine a motive for the Sarasota County incident. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office stated that there were no known documented mental health crises or history of violence associated with Kot, leaving many questions unanswered.
