Maniac, 47, nabbed for fatally stabbing US Marine during deadly North Carolina street brawl
A tragic incident unfolded in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, last weekend when a massive street brawl led to the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old US Marine, Daniel Montano. The suspect, Davy Spencer, 47, was arrested on Friday and charged with second-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in connection to the incident.
The violent altercation, caught on camera, showed Montano, a lance corporal stationed at Camp Lejeune, being fatally stabbed during the chaotic fight. Another individual was also injured in the stabbing. The Wilmington Police Department faced criticism for their response to the brawl, as footage circulated online showing officers attempting to break up the fight as Montano lay injured on the ground.
Despite the efforts of bystanders to stop the bleeding and provide aid, Montano succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a local hospital. The young Marine, originally from California, was described by his sister Evelyn as a beloved family member who brought light into their lives.
Following the incident, police defended their actions during the brawl, stating that they acted appropriately given the circumstances. However, the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave as the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation takes over the case.
Spencer, the alleged assailant, is currently held without bond in connection to Montano’s death. The community mourns the loss of a dedicated service member and continues to seek justice for the senseless act of violence that claimed his life.
