Martin Moszkowicz Teams Up With Philipp Keel of Publisher Diogenes

Martin Moszkowicz, a prominent German producer, has joined forces with Philipp Keel, the owner of Diogenes, Europe’s largest independent fiction publisher, to bring titles from Diogenes’ extensive catalog to the screen.

Diogenes has a rich history of adapting works from renowned authors such as Patricia Highsmith, Patrick Süskind, and Bernhard Schlink. Moszkowicz revealed that they are currently in negotiations for approximately twelve properties, some of which are already in development. He emphasized the importance of the human authorial voice in a market saturated with synthetic content, noting that Diogenes possesses a treasure trove of unique voices.

Keel expressed his gratitude for partnering with Moszkowicz and highlighted the promising projects they are working on together. Since its inception in 1952 by Daniel Keel, Diogenes has published over 8,000 titles by more than 800 writers and artists, including Ian McEwan, John Irving, and Paulo Coelho.

In addition to adapting works from legacy authors, Keel mentioned their focus on new talents signed to Diogenes in recent years. He cited successful releases like Daniela Krien’s “Love in Case of Emergency” and Elena Fischer’s “Paradise Garden” as examples of their commitment to nurturing emerging voices.

Moszkowicz underscored the importance of compelling storytelling in today’s film and television landscape, noting Diogenes’ vast library of captivating narratives. Keel, who founded Diogenes Entertainment in 2016, has been involved in various film and series productions as an executive producer, including adaptations of Highsmith’s works like “Deep Water” and “The Talented Mr. Ripley.”

The collaboration between Keel and Moszkowicz is a natural progression of their long-standing partnership. They aim to elevate Diogenes’ literary catalog to new heights by actively shaping and producing adaptations for film and television. Moszkowicz emphasized the shift towards quality content post-COVID, emphasizing the value of authentic creative voices found in Diogenes’ diverse catalog.

Protecting the writers’ authorial vision is a top priority for Moszkowicz and Keel. They are dedicated to ensuring that adaptations stay true to the essence of the original works and reflect the authors’ styles and visions. Keel’s deep understanding of both the content and the creators behind the stories enables him to approach adaptations with a keen eye for preserving the integrity of the source material.

In a landscape flooded with generic content, Moszkowicz and Keel are championing the human authorial voice as a premium asset in the entertainment industry. They are determined to bring a diverse range of voices from Diogenes’ catalog to audiences worldwide, staying true to the essence of each author’s unique storytelling.
