‘Ponies’ Submits for Emmys Comedy, Emilia Clarke in Lead Actress

Peacock’s “Ponies” Gears Up for Emmy Awards Campaign

Peacock and Universal Television are pulling out all the stops for their comedy series “Ponies” as they gear up for the upcoming Emmy Awards campaign. The spy dramedy is set to make a splash at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards by submitting across 20 categories, including lead comedy actress for Emilia Clarke and supporting actress for Haley Lu Richardson.

Emmy nominee Emilia Clarke will be vying for recognition for her role as Bea, a CIA operative with a unique background as an over-educated, Russian-speaking daughter of Soviet immigrants. Clarke, who also serves as an executive producer on the show, will be eligible in multiple categories including Outstanding Comedy Series.

Her co-star Haley Lu Richardson, who plays the feisty small-town woman Twila, will be seeking consideration in the supporting actress category. The series regulars Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi, and Vic Michaelis will also be submitted in supporting performer categories.

Co-creators Susanna Fogel and David Iserson will be putting the series premiere episode, “Second Hand News,” up for consideration in the comedy writing race. Fogel will also be submitting the same episode for consideration in the directing category.

In addition to the performer and creative categories, “Ponies” will also campaign in various technical categories such as production design, casting, cinematography, costumes, and more. The official episode and artisans to be submitted for consideration will be announced at a later date.

“Ponies” premiered on Peacock on January 15 and has already garnered critical acclaim with a Certified Fresh designation on Rotten Tomatoes and a 96% score. Variety’s chief TV critic, Alison Herman, described it as “an endearing spy caper.”

Set in 1977 Moscow, “Ponies” follows the story of two women who are thrust into the world of Cold War espionage after their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances. The series is co-created by David Iserson and Susanna Fogel, with Mike Daniels serving as executive producer and showrunner.

All eight episodes of “Ponies” Season 1 are currently streaming on Peacock, offering viewers a thrilling and captivating spy adventure to enjoy.
