Seoul spy agency says it’s fair to view teen daughter of N. Korean leader as his heir
In a groundbreaking announcement, South Korea’s intelligence agency has declared that the teenage daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is being positioned as his successor, potentially extending the Kim dynasty into a fourth generation.
Referred to as Kim’s “most beloved” or “respected” child by state media, the girl has been making notable appearances alongside her father at prominent events since late 2022, leading to speculation about her future role as the leader of North Korea.
During a closed-door briefing at the National Assembly, the Director of South Korea’s National Intelligence Service, Lee Jong-seok, suggested that the girl could indeed succeed Kim Jong Un, according to lawmaker Lee Seong Kweun.
Contrary to previous beliefs, the NIS now firmly asserts that the girl is being groomed as Kim’s heir apparent. This marks a significant shift from earlier assessments that hinted at her potential succession. Some experts, however, remain skeptical, citing North Korea’s traditional patriarchal society and Kim’s relatively young age as potential obstacles to her assuming leadership.
Referred to as Kim Ju Ae and believed to be around 13 years old, the girl has been involved in various public events, including military training exercises and factory visits with her father. These appearances are seen as efforts by North Korean authorities to bolster her image and dispel doubts about a female leader.
The NIS’ assessment has sparked debate and intrigue about the future of North Korea’s leadership and the potential continuation of the Kim dynasty. As the world watches closely, the girl’s role and influence in shaping the country’s destiny remain uncertain.
