Shania Twain Says She Did ‘Unhealthy Things’ to Lose Weight
Shania Twain recently opened up about her struggles with body confidence during her 2019 Las Vegas residency. In an interview with London’s The Times, the 60-year-old singer revealed that she had developed an “unhealthy” relationship with her body, to the point where she stopped looking at herself in the mirror because she hated what she saw.
Twain admitted to feeling out of control with her changing body, leading her to resort to unhealthy methods to lose weight. She confessed to overworking her body and neglecting to properly nourish herself, which ultimately resulted in malnourishment and an onstage injury.
However, Twain has since adopted a much healthier mindset, attributing it to menopause and the realization that some things are beyond her control. She now embraces looking at herself in the mirror and has learned to accept and appreciate her body.
This is not the first time Twain has been candid about her body confidence struggles. In a previous interview with Us Weekly, she revealed that she had always felt insecure about her body due to past experiences of inappropriate touching and abusive situations. She expressed a desire to be strong and unyielding, wishing to escape the vulnerabilities associated with being a woman.
Offering advice to others facing similar struggles, Twain emphasized the importance of not comparing oneself to others. She stressed the need to be genuine and honest with oneself, cautioning against the dangers of constantly measuring one’s worth against external standards of beauty.
Overall, Shania Twain’s journey towards self-acceptance serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of embracing one’s uniqueness and finding confidence from within. Her story is a testament to the resilience and strength that can be cultivated through self-love and acceptance.
