Streeterville man posted synagogue shooting threat on Twitter, feds say
Man Arrested for Threatening Synagogue and Israeli Official’s Relatives
A 31-year-old man from Streeterville is facing federal charges for allegedly posting a threat on X to shoot up a synagogue and sharing what he claimed was the home address of relatives of an Israeli government official.
Timothy Holmes, known online as @MapleStCapital and “End The FED,” was arrested in Florida last week after federal officials identified him as the suspect behind the threatening posts.
According to court documents, Holmes used his @MapleStCapital account to post a message on March 3, 2026, stating, “I’m going to shoot up a synagogue,” in response to a tweet from the Israeli government’s official account regarding the death of Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The account has since been suspended by X.
Authorities also found multiple antisemitic posts on Holmes’ account, including threats like “the jew will be destroyed and discarded,” and “From the river to the sea every Jew will die.” He also allegedly shared what he claimed to be the Florida home address of the Israeli official’s relatives, along with disturbing statements like “Die jew.”
One post even asked for more information about the official’s relatives’ address, indicating potential plans to visit Florida. Records show that Holmes did indeed travel to Florida on March 7, although his attorney claims it was for family reasons.
Through investigation, authorities were able to link the @MapleStCapital account to Holmes by tracing it back to his Gmail address and IP address associated with his residence in the 500 block of North McClurg Court.
Following his arrest, Holmes was released on a $100,000 bond with strict conditions, including a ban on social media use, possession of weapons, and electronic monitoring. If convicted, he could face up to five years in federal prison.
