Tech analyst Dan Ives is exiting Wedbush for a new venture

Dan Ives, a well-known technology analyst on Wall Street, is making a significant career change by leaving his long-standing position at Wedbush Securities to establish a merchant bank that will offer a comprehensive range of services including research, advisory, capital raising, and investing all under one roof.

Having dedicated over eight years to Wedbush and more than 25 years covering technology stocks, Ives is excited about the new venture. The focus of the new firm will be on creating a “modern merchant bank” that will help companies and investors take advantage of opportunities arising from artificial intelligence and other structural shifts in the economy.

“It’s been an incredible journey at Wedbush,” Ives stated in an interview. “But I see the next opportunity as creating a modern merchant bank with strong partners, long-term capital, and the potential to revolutionize the way investment banks operate.”

The official announcement of the new firm is expected in the coming weeks. The firm plans to offer proprietary research, strategic advisory services, capital raising, and investments across various sectors such as technology, energy, and financials. Additionally, Ives intends to continue his role in research covering technology stocks while contributing to the growth of the overall business.

This transition signifies a unique career shift for Ives, known for his bullish predictions on AI-related companies and his dynamic presence on television. Recognizable for his vibrant jackets and outspoken demeanor, Ives even ventured into the fashion industry by launching his clothing line last year.

During his time at Wedbush, Ives held unconventional roles for a sell-side analyst, including serving on the advisory board of Zeta Global and briefly chairing Eightco Holdings. At Eightco, he spearheaded a crypto treasury strategy centered around Worldcoin, the digital token linked to Sam Altman’s identity project, World.

Ives envisions recruiting top talent from various Wall Street sectors to position the firm at the forefront of the AI-driven transformation reshaping industries. “My career has been leading up to something like this,” Ives remarked. “In this AI revolution, it’s about recognizing the upcoming opportunities, and that’s precisely what this firm aims to achieve.”

In summary, Dan Ives’s decision to launch a modern merchant bank signifies a new chapter in his illustrious career as a technology analyst. With a focus on AI and other transformative technologies, the firm aims to revolutionize traditional investment banking practices and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the market.
