The Lost Tapes’ and Cartoon Network
I remember thinking about how they could all relate to each other. Mordecai and Rigby were based off of me and my friend who I made the movie [“2 in the AM PM”] with. So, I was like, “OK, well, who would we work for?” That’s where Benson came from. “Who would live with us?” That’s where Pops came from. And then, “Who would be the boss of the whole park?” That’s where Skips came from. It was just building out the world. A lot of it was just trying to find unique roles and not having them all be the same. That’s why they’re all so different. I wanted them all to have different personalities that could bounce off each other in unique ways.
What can fans expect from “The Lost Tapes”? How does it fit into the “Regular Show” universe?
“The Lost Tapes” is a really fun project because it’s a way for us to do something a little bit different with the characters. It’s a way for us to push things a little bit further. The whole point of the show was to push things as far as we could within the TV-PG limit. The show was riding the line of what we could get away with. “The Lost Tapes” is kind of the same thing. It’s like, “Well, we’re going to push things a little bit further than we did on the show” in terms of the subject matter, the style, the tone. We’re just trying to make it as fun as possible and make the characters do things that you wouldn’t normally see them do.
I think that fans of the show will really like it because it’s still those characters, but it’s kind of like a different version of them. It’s a little bit more of an extreme version of them. We’re playing with the format a little bit, so it’s not just a straight-up episode. It’s a little bit more experimental in terms of what we can do with the characters and the world. And I think that’s what’s going to be fun for people who liked the show, to see us push it a little bit further and see what we can get away with.
What do you hope fans take away from “The Lost Tapes”?
I hope that fans are happy with it. I hope that they see it and think it’s really fun and that it’s a good continuation of the show. I hope that they like the style and the tone and the vibe of it and that it feels like “Regular Show.” I hope that they’re entertained by it. I hope that they laugh and that they have a good time watching it. I hope that it makes them want to watch more and that they’re excited about the new episodes that are coming out. I hope that it makes them happy. That’s all I want.
With “The Lost Tapes” set to premiere on May 11, fans of “Regular Show” can look forward to more surreal adventures with Mordecai, Rigby, and the rest of the gang. Quintel’s dedication to pushing boundaries and taking creative risks is sure to make this reboot a must-watch for both old and new fans of the series. Get ready for more hilarity, more shenanigans, and more outlandish scenarios as “Regular Show” returns to TV screens once again. It was all about finding that balance of pushing boundaries while still staying true to the tone of the show. We wanted to make sure that the humor was relatable and funny to both kids and adults. And sometimes, that meant pushing the limits a little bit.
One of the things that I think really resonated with audiences was the friendship between the characters. Skips, Muscle Man, High Five Ghost, and the rest of the crew had this great dynamic that felt authentic and real. They were like a family, always there for each other through thick and thin. And I think that kind of friendship is something that everyone can relate to.
But at the end of the day, it was all about making people laugh. We wanted to create a show that was funny and entertaining, that would bring joy to people’s lives. And I think that’s why “Regular Show” was so successful. It was a labor of love, a collaboration of talented people coming together to create something special.
And even though the show has ended, its legacy lives on. People are still discovering it and finding it funny, years after it first aired. And that’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. “Regular Show” may be over, but its impact will last for years to come. But I feel like with “Regular Show,” it’s a little different. We had such a unique voice and vision with the original run, and we wanted to make sure that if we were going to bring it back, it was for the right reasons. We didn’t want to just do it for nostalgia’s sake. We wanted to make sure that we had a fresh take on it, and that we were bringing something new and exciting to the table.
With the current state of the entertainment industry, there’s so much content out there, and it can be overwhelming for viewers. We wanted to make sure that if we were going to bring back “Regular Show,” it was going to stand out and make an impact. We wanted to capture that same magic and humor that made the original run so special, while also pushing the boundaries and exploring new ideas.
I think now is the perfect time for a “Regular Show” reboot because we have the opportunity to introduce the show to a whole new generation of viewers. We can bring back the original fans who grew up watching the show, while also attracting new fans who may not have experienced it before. We have the chance to build on what we created with the original run and take it to new and exciting places.
Overall, I’m incredibly excited for the new season of “Regular Show” and the opportunity to revisit these beloved characters and stories. I think we have something really special in store for fans, and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have in store. After the pandemic, many of us are slowly venturing back out into the world and encountering people we haven’t seen in a while. For J.G. Quintel, creator of the beloved show “Regular Show,” this return to public life has been eye-opening. Quintel, who admits to being somewhat shy and preferring to stay out of the spotlight, has been surprised by the number of fans who have approached him to express their love for the show.
It’s clear that “Regular Show” holds a special place in the hearts of many, both old and new fans. Quintel has been taken aback by the response from people of all ages, with even those who were not born when the show first aired declaring it as their favorite. This resurgence of interest in the show has reignited Quintel’s passion for storytelling and has inspired him to bring the world of “Regular Show” back to life.
With the upcoming release of “The Lost Tapes,” Quintel and his team are eager to delve back into the world of Mordecai and Rigby. The new episodes promise to answer lingering questions from the original series while introducing fresh storylines and characters. Quintel assures fans that the essence of the show will remain intact, with a mix of classic hijinks and deeper explorations of side characters like Eileen and Margaret.
One of the most exciting aspects of “The Lost Tapes” is the introduction of new characters and the opportunity to delve into the backstories of fan-favorite characters. Quintel hints at a more serialized approach to storytelling, with each episode building upon the last to create a satisfying viewing experience for fans old and new.
As fans eagerly await the return of “Regular Show,” it’s clear that Quintel’s passion for the show and its characters remains as strong as ever. The anticipation for “The Lost Tapes” is palpable, and fans can look forward to a fresh take on a beloved series that promises to deliver the same quirky humor and heartfelt moments that made the original show a hit.
