The Secret Order’ Canceled at AMC (EXCLUSIVE)
AMC has made the decision to cancel “Talamasca: The Secret Order” after just one season, as reported exclusively by Variety. The network expressed their pride in the series and gratitude for everyone involved while acknowledging the significance of the Talamasca within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Although the show will not continue, AMC hinted at the possibility of seeing some of the characters and the organization in future expressions of the franchise.
This marks a significant move for AMC, as it is the first time they have canceled a show within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Since acquiring the rights to Rice’s works in 2020, AMC has launched successful shows like “Interview with the Vampire” (now known as “The Vampire Lestat”) and “Mayfair Witches” alongside “Talamasca.”
Fans can look forward to the third season of “The Vampire Lestat” premiering on June 7, while “Mayfair Witches” is set to return for its third season in early 2027.
“Talamasca” aired its six-episode first season from October 2025 to late November of the same year. The series starred Nicholas Denton, Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Celine Buckens, with guest appearances from Jason Schwartzman, Eric Bogosian, and Justin Kirk. The show followed Guy Anatole (Denton), a law school graduate who is drawn into a world of secret agents and immortal beings after being approached by the Talamasca.
The series was based on both “The Vampire Chronicles” and “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches,” with John Lee Hancock developing the show and serving as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Mark Lafferty. Mark Johnson, Tom Williams, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice were also executive producers on the project.
While “Talamasca: The Secret Order” may not continue, fans of the Anne Rice Immortal Universe can anticipate future expressions of the franchise that may feature elements from the canceled series.
