To reinvent cancer care, Color Health is going virtual first, AI-driven
Color Health’s CEO, Othman Laraki, believes that cancer is facing a scalability issue. With new advancements in science constantly redefining the standards of care, the complexity of managing this disease is increasing. The number of cancer patients is rising faster than the number of oncologists available to treat them, leading to skyrocketing costs and making it challenging for everyone to access the best possible therapy. Laraki envisions a solution to this dilemma that he deems inevitable.
“In our perspective, the only way to address and resolve this issue is through a virtual-first, AI-driven approach,” Laraki stated. “In the near future, the leading cancer centers will be primarily virtual.”
The concept of virtual care for cancer may initially seem contradictory, given that traditional cancer treatments like surgery, radiation, and infusions are hands-on procedures. However, Color Health has been developing a virtual cancer clinic, complete with a virtual “tumor board” comprised of multidisciplinary experts. The company asserts that this platform can deliver and manage high-quality care. Recently, Color Health obtained certification from the American Society of Clinical Oncology to validate their approach.
This innovative approach to cancer care is aimed at revolutionizing the field and ensuring that patients receive optimal treatment regardless of geographical barriers or limited access to specialized healthcare providers. By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence and virtual platforms, Color Health is paving the way for a future where top-tier cancer treatment is accessible to all.
