Trump says he is nominating former Oklahoma state trooper Lance Schroyer as ICE director
President Donald Trump has announced his nomination of Lance Schroyer, a former Oklahoma state trooper, as the next director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform, praising Schroyer as a “PATRIOT with real operational experience” and a “proven leader with DECADES of experience locking up the worst of the worst.”
This nomination comes after the resignation of former ICE director Todd Lyons in May. In the interim, David Venturella, a former executive at a private prison operator, has been serving as the acting head of the agency. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, also from Oklahoma and a former congressman for the state, is still acclimating to his role overseeing ICE. Mullin has expressed a desire to keep the department out of the headlines and has indicated a softer tone on immigration, though he is expected to align with the president’s stance on mass deportations.
Mullin quickly voiced his support for Schroyer’s nomination, highlighting his 29 years of law enforcement experience and his potential to assist in fulfilling the president’s mandate to target, arrest, and deport illegal aliens.
The nomination of Lance Schroyer as the new ICE director underscores Trump’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and securing the nation’s borders. With his extensive law enforcement background, Schroyer is poised to lead ICE in its mission to uphold immigration policies and protect the American people.
