U.S. will make ‘great deal’ with Iran
President Donald Trump expressed optimism on Tuesday about reaching a favorable agreement with Iran to bring an end to the ongoing conflict. Despite indicating that the ceasefire set to expire soon would not be extended, Trump believes that a positive resolution is imminent.
During an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Trump stated, “I think they have no choice,” when questioned about the anticipated outcome of upcoming peace talks with Iran. He highlighted the significant blows dealt to Iran’s military capabilities, emphasizing the effectiveness of recent actions.
“We’ve taken out their navy, we’ve taken out their air force, we’ve taken out their leaders,” Trump asserted confidently.
Reflecting on the current situation, Trump remarked, “We’ve taken out their leaders, frankly, which does complicate things in one way, but these leaders are much more rational.” He acknowledged the implications of regime change while emphasizing his indirect role in the process.
When asked about the possibility of extending the ceasefire for peace negotiations, Trump dismissed the idea, stating, “Well, I don’t want to do that.”
