Washington State repeat offender with 19 felonies caught in wild police chase

A notorious repeat offender with a lengthy and violent criminal history found himself back in police custody after leading law enforcement on a harrowing chase in a stolen vehicle in Olympia, Washington. The incident unfolded on April 4, when deputies and officers responded to a report of an auto theft in progress on the west side of the city. The suspect had stolen a Honda Civic and fled the scene, prompting a swift search for the stolen vehicle.

A Tenino police officer later spotted the stolen car, but the driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit that headed north towards the more densely populated Tumwater area. Video footage captured the suspect speeding through streets as officers coordinated their efforts over the radio, with speeds reaching up to 60 mph. Authorities attempted to stop the suspect using various tactics, including a grappler device and spike strips, but the suspect managed to evade them initially.

As the situation intensified, additional resources, including aerial support, were called in to assist in tracking the suspect. Ultimately, a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office deputy successfully executed a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver), bringing the vehicle to a halt. Deputies then forcibly removed the suspect from the car to prevent him from fleeing into nearby neighborhoods.

The suspect, a 19-time convicted felon with a history of serious offenses such as robbery, assault on law enforcement, unlawful possession of a firearm, burglary, and second-degree assault involving strangulation, now faces new charges including auto theft, attempting to elude law enforcement, DUI, and driving on a suspended license. His criminal record also includes multiple convictions for attempting to elude police and possessing stolen vehicles, as well as at least 10 misdemeanor convictions.

Authorities emphasized the danger posed by repeat offenders like the suspect and commended the coordinated teamwork between the Olympia Police Department, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, and Tenino Police Department in safely apprehending the suspect. The swift and decisive action taken by law enforcement prevented the threat from reaching more populated areas.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office for further information on the chase and the suspect, but did not receive an immediate response. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by repeat offenders with violent criminal histories and the importance of law enforcement collaboration in ensuring public safety.
