Webtoon Productions, France’s OuiDo! Adapt ‘Lumine’ as Animated Series

Webtoon has struck another deal to bring one of its popular webcomics, “Lumine,” to life as an animated series. The U.S.-based studio and IP business of Webtoon Entertainment, Webtoon Productions, has partnered with French animation studio OuiDo! Productions for this exciting project. “Lumine” has amassed a massive following with over 550 million views on Webtoon’s platform, making it a prime candidate for adaptation.

This collaboration comes on the heels of Webtoon Entertainment’s deal with Warner Bros Animation to co-produce adaptations of 10 fan-favorite webcomic series for global distribution. The partnership with OuiDo! demonstrates Webtoon’s commitment to expanding its portfolio of animated and anime-inspired adaptations beyond the Warner Bros arrangement, focusing on some of its most beloved franchises.

“Lumine,” a fantasy friendship tale by author Emma Krogell, follows the story of a weredog named Lumine who crosses paths with an antisocial witch boy named Kody. As they navigate a world where weredogs, witches, and humans coexist, they find themselves embroiled in a series of mysteries and dangers. The adaptation will be unveiled at the Annecy Festival Mifa market in France.

The show will be helmed by screenwriter Bryan Q. Miller, known for his work on “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” and “Smallville,” who will serve as showrunner and co-writer. The executive producers include Webtoon Productions President David Madden, Head of Global Animation Sydney Bright, OuiDo! Productions CEO Sandrine Nguyen, and President Boris Hertzog.

Sandrine Nguyen, CEO of OuiDo! Productions, expressed excitement about the project, highlighting the emotional resonance of “Lumine” and the collaborative expertise brought by Webtoon Productions and Bryan Q. Miller. David Madden emphasized the global appeal of “Lumine” and the opportunity to bring its visually imaginative world to animation.

The “Lumine” webcomic has already garnered a wide international audience, with translations in multiple languages and graphic novel adaptations. This animated series adaptation joins a lineup of upcoming projects from Webtoon Productions, including “Lore Olympus” with Prime Video and The Jim Henson Company, “Apocalyptic Horseplay,” “Gosu,” and “Eleceed.”

OuiDo! Productions, founded in 2003 by Nguyen and Hertzog, has a track record of producing successful animated series for platforms like Disney Jr. With the acquisition of OuiDo! in 2025, the studio has expanded its capabilities to cover the full spectrum of production, distribution, and licensing, making “Lumine” the flagship project in their push for teen and adult animation content.

Overall, the collaboration between Webtoon Productions and OuiDo! Productions promises to bring the captivating world of “Lumine” to life for audiences worldwide, combining compelling storytelling with visually stunning animation.
