White House crypto czar David Sacks transfers to presidential advisory committee role
David Sacks Joins President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology as Co-Chair

Former White House AI and Crypto Czar David Sacks has announced that he will be taking on a new role as co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. This move comes after Sacks had been serving as U.S. President Donald Trump’s crypto and AI czar prior to Trump’s return to office last January.
Sacks has been instrumental in overseeing the White House’s early efforts in the crypto space, including the passage of the GENIUS Act which focused on stablecoins, as well as work on the crypto market structure bill. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sacks explained that PCAST is a key advisory body responsible for shaping science, technology, and innovation policy for the President and the White House. He will be joined by thirteen accomplished leaders in science and technology as the initial members of PCAST.
Earlier in the day, Sacks revealed in an interview with Bloomberg that his previous role as czar was limited to 130 working days as a “special government employee.” This led to concerns from Democrats in Congress that he had exceeded this period. However, as a co-chair on the advisory committee, Sacks does not face the same restrictions.
As co-chair, Sacks and the committee will focus on making policy recommendations and conducting studies on cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and nuclear power. He expressed his commitment to advancing the president’s A.I. framework that was recently released, as well as exploring other areas of innovation.
While Sacks did not mention crypto specifically in the interview, the committee includes prominent figures in the tech industry such as Marc Andreessen, Sergey Brin, Michael Dell, Fred Ehrsam, Jensen Huang, Lisa Su, and Mark Zuckerberg. Michael Kratsios, a veteran of both of Trump’s administrations, will serve as the co-chair alongside Sacks.
With a diverse and accomplished group of advisors, the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future of technology and innovation in the United States.
