Wild video shows woman shoot gun in West Virginia gas station

The shocking incident at a West Virginia gas station, where a woman opened fire and narrowly missed a worker, was captured on surveillance footage. Rebecca Peterson, a 42-year-old woman from Oceana, reportedly walked into the convenience store of the pit stop with a gun at around 4 a.m. on Friday. She informed the clerk that she intended to rob the store before firing a shot at the back wall behind him.

The terrifying moment was caught on camera, showing Peterson in a black hoodie as she approached the counter. Alaa Hammad, the Shell station clerk who was covering a shift for a friend at the Lincoln County rest stop, reacted with shock as Peterson fired the shot. Hammad had just informed Peterson that the owner was in a back room counting money before he fled the scene.

After shooting at the surveillance camera in the back of the store, Peterson left in her car. However, she was apprehended by law enforcement shortly after the incident. She now faces charges of attempted armed robbery, wanton endangerment, brandishing, assault, and destruction of property, as stated by the West Virginia State Police.

The clerk later recounted the incident, mentioning that he had tried to calm Peterson down but realized that her mental state was not stable. The surveillance footage and the clerk’s testimony provide a chilling insight into the dangerous situation that unfolded at the gas station.

The authorities are investigating the incident further to determine the motive behind Peterson’s actions and ensure that justice is served. The quick response by law enforcement led to the apprehension of the suspect, preventing any further harm from occurring at the gas station.

The surveillance footage serves as a reminder of the potential dangers faced by workers in the service industry and highlights the importance of security measures at such establishments. The timely intervention of the police in this case helped prevent a potentially tragic outcome, emphasizing the significance of swift and effective law enforcement responses in emergency situations.
