Actor Halle Bailey gets restraining order against rapper DDG alleging violence

LOS ANGELES — Halle Bailey, known for her role in “The Little Mermaid,” has been granted a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, rapper and YouTuber DDG. Bailey alleges that DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., has been physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards her. The couple shares a 17-month-old son named Halo.

The judge ordered DDG to stay away from Bailey and Halo until a hearing scheduled for June 6. Bailey detailed multiple incidents of violence during their relationship, including a January altercation where DDG allegedly called her derogatory names and physically assaulted her, resulting in a chipped tooth.

In March, Bailey claimed DDG entered her home without permission and sent threatening messages. He also allegedly damaged property and behaved aggressively during a confrontation. Bailey filed a police report over the incident.

Bailey also accused DDG of using his social media platforms to turn his followers against her, resulting in threats and hate messages directed at her. She requested that DDG be prohibited from using Twitch and YouTube to incite negativity towards her.

The judge also ordered DDG not to possess any weapons and scheduled a hearing for June 6 to potentially extend the restraining order for up to five years.

DDG, originally from Pontiac, Michigan, gained fame as a video streamer and hip-hop artist. He recently released his fourth studio album, “Blame the Chat,” on Epic Records. Bailey, hailing from Atlanta, has received multiple Grammy nominations both as a solo artist and as part of the duo Chloe x Halle.

Bailey’s career includes starring in the sitcom “Grown-ish” and portraying the title character in Disney’s live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid.” The talented actress and singer continues to make waves in the entertainment industry despite the challenges she faces in her personal life.
