Florida man shoots neighbor’s cow 5 times after it wandered onto his property

A shocking incident occurred in North Fort Myers, Florida, on May 13, when a man was arrested for shooting his neighbor’s cow multiple times. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Agriculture Unit received a distress call from a ranch on Sharon Drive, reporting animal cruelty.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 2-year-old calf on the neighbor’s property with five gunshot wounds to its guts, chest, and rear leg. The injuries were severe, and a veterinarian had to euthanize the calf. The owner of the cow revealed that the suspect, 54-year-old Hung Trinh, had previously expressed anger about livestock trespassing onto his property and had threatened to shoot them.
Detectives obtained a search warrant and discovered a .22 caliber gun believed to be the weapon used in the shooting inside a shed on Trinh’s property. Sheriff Carmine Marceno condemned the act, stating, “There will be accountability for taking your frustrations out on innocent animals, in this case multiple felonies and jail time.” He emphasized the importance of protecting animals in the farming community and commended the Agriculture Unit for their swift response in making an arrest.
Hung Trinh now faces charges of animal cruelty and grand theft of a commercial farm animal. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities working diligently to ensure justice is served for the senseless act of violence against the innocent cow.
