Kim Kardashian trial: 8 found guilty in 2016 jewelry heist

After surviving a traumatic robbery in her Paris hotel room nearly a decade ago, Kim Kardashian finally saw justice served as eight defendants were found guilty of crimes linked to the incident. The verdict was delivered by a panel of judges and jurors in a Paris courtroom, with eight out of the ten defendants being convicted and two acquitted. The defendants have the option to appeal the ruling within the next 10 days.

The robbery, which took place during Paris Fashion Week in 2016, involved five masked men posing as police officers breaking into Kardashian’s hotel suite and stealing valuables worth over $6 million. Among the items taken was a diamond engagement ring worth about $4 million, given to Kardashian by her then-husband Kanye West.

Kardashian played a crucial role in the trial by testifying in court, recounting the harrowing experience she faced during the robbery. She expressed her fear and desperation, stating that she believed she was going to die during the ordeal. The reality TV star emphasized the fact that she has young children and pleaded with the robbers to let her go back to them.

In her testimony, Kardashian revealed how she was tied up, gagged, and thrown into a bathroom by the intruders. Despite the terrifying situation, she managed to free her hands and seek help from her friend, Simone Harouche, who untied her and ensured her safety.

The arrests of the suspects involved in the robbery were made by French authorities in January 2017. The group of suspects, who have been dubbed the “grandpa robbers” due to their advanced age, were mostly over 60 years old. Out of the original 12 defendants, one has passed away, and another cannot stand trial due to medical reasons.

The conclusion of this trial marks a significant moment of closure for Kardashian, who has since focused on her legal advocacy work and other business ventures. The verdict serves as a reminder that justice can prevail even after years of waiting.
