Frozen ground beef that may be contaminated with metal recalled in several states

Food safety is a top priority for consumers and manufacturers alike. Recently, Ada Valley Meat Company issued a recall for more than 1,000 pounds of fully cooked frozen ground beef due to potential metal contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall, stating that the product was shipped to establishments and distributors in California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

The recalled ground beef was packed in 20-pound cardboard box cases with specific pack dates and lot codes. The labels of the recalled items include pack dates of May 28, 2025, with lot code 35156, and May 30, 2025, with lot code 35157. The issue was brought to light after a consumer reported finding pieces of metal in the product. While there have been no confirmed reports of injury, the USDA is urging institutions with the beef in their freezers not to serve it and to dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase.

Consumers with additional questions or concerns can contact Ada Valley Gourmet Foods President Gerrit Rozeboom at gerrit@adavalley.com. This recall is not an isolated incident, as earlier this year, frozen taquitos and beef and turkey sticks were also recalled due to potential metal contamination.

Food safety recalls highlight the importance of stringent quality control measures in the food industry. Manufacturers must ensure that their products are free from any foreign objects that could pose a risk to consumers. Consumers, on the other hand, should stay informed about recalls and take appropriate action if they have purchased a recalled product. By working together, manufacturers and consumers can maintain the safety and integrity of our food supply chain.

In conclusion, food safety is a shared responsibility that requires vigilance and cooperation from all parties involved. Stay informed, be proactive, and prioritize safety when it comes to the food you consume.
