ESPN bars Jason Kelce from working Chiefs game on YouTube
ESPN has made the decision to not allow Jason Kelce to participate in YouTube’s coverage of the upcoming Chiefs vs. Chargers game in Brazil. Jason, who recently joined ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” after a successful career with the Philadelphia Eagles, was approached by YouTube to be part of the coverage alongside his brother, Travis Kelce, who plays tight end for the Chiefs.
However, ESPN’s policy prohibits their talent from appearing on streamers’ NFL games, leading to the cancellation of the plan. This development comes in light of networks being hesitant to share their talent with other platforms, as seen with Netflix’s upcoming Christmas Day lineup that includes NFL games.
Jason Kelce, a Super Bowl-winning center, is entering his second season as an analyst with ESPN. In addition to his broadcasting duties, he co-hosts the popular “New Heights” podcast with his brother Travis, who recently got engaged to singer Taylor Swift. Travis Kelce, who is entering his 13th NFL season with the Chiefs, is coming off a season with career-low numbers in receiving yards and touchdowns.
When the Chiefs and Chargers face off next week, Rich Eisen and Kurt Warner will be on the call for YouTube, with Stacey Dales and online personality Donald “Deestroying” De La Haye serving as sideline reporters. The game is set to kick off at 8 p.m. in Brazil.
Despite the setback with YouTube, Jason Kelce continues to make strides in his broadcasting career and remains a prominent figure in the sports media landscape.
