President Trump is in ‘exceptional health,’ his doctor says

President Donald Trump received a clean bill of health after undergoing a comprehensive checkup at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. His physician, Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, described Trump as being in “exceptional health” with strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical performance.

The checkup, which lasted approximately three hours, included lab tests, advanced imaging, and preventive health assessments. In addition to his regular flu shot, Trump also received a Covid-19 booster vaccine during his visit to the Bethesda, Maryland hospital.

Barbabella noted that Trump’s cardiac age was approximately 14 years younger than his actual age of 79, making him the oldest U.S. president at the time of his inauguration. The evaluation was part of Trump’s ongoing health maintenance plan to prepare for upcoming overseas trips to the Middle East and Asia.

While the White House initially described the visit as a routine yearly checkup, Trump had already undergone his annual physical in April. At that time, he was deemed “fully fit” to serve as commander in chief and had lost 20 pounds since his previous medical exam.

In July, Trump underwent a medical checkup after experiencing mild swelling in his lower legs. He was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition in older adults that causes blood to pool in the veins. Despite this, Trump passed a short screening test to assess his brain functions during his April physical.

The White House has been transparent about Trump’s health, releasing details such as his weight, body mass index, cholesterol levels, and blood pressure from his exams. This transparency was particularly important when rumors about Trump’s health circulated, especially when he was frequently seen with bruising on his hand.

Trump has used the issue of health as a political weapon, questioning the mental and physical fitness of his opponents. He frequently targeted President Joe Biden, who has since dropped out of the 2024 race following doubts about his fitness for office after a contentious debate with Trump.

Overall, Trump’s recent checkup reaffirms his good health and readiness for his upcoming international travels. The thorough evaluation conducted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center ensures that the president remains in top form for his duties as commander in chief.
