2 more charged in Louvre jewel heist, 3 released from custody

Two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the recent robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris, as confirmed by the Paris Public Prosecutor’s office. Both suspects have denied any involvement in the heist. Additionally, two more individuals have been charged this week in relation to the same case.

The new suspects, a 37-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, have been formally charged with organized robbery and conspiracy to commit organized robbery. They have been remanded into custody as the investigation continues. On the other hand, three out of the five individuals arrested on October 29 have been released from custody, according to prosecutors.

The robbery took place on October 19 when four masked thieves managed to steal eight valuable pieces of jewelry from the Louvre, which is known as the world’s most visited museum. The stolen items are estimated to be worth $102 million. The entire incident lasted only seven minutes, leading to a nationwide outcry and a widespread manhunt for the perpetrators.

Despite the arrests and charges made in connection with the robbery, the stolen jewels have yet to be recovered. Authorities are still actively searching for the missing items. Last week, one suspect was apprehended at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport while attempting to board a flight to Algeria, while another suspect was detained just before departing for Mali.

The investigation into the Louvre Museum robbery remains ongoing, with authorities working diligently to uncover more details and locate the stolen jewelry. As this is a developing story, updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
