Uber driver allegedly admits raping passenger who passed out drunk
An Uber driver in Kentucky has been accused of raping a passenger who had passed out drunk during a ride home from a party. The disturbing incident allegedly took place when Clifford E. Partin, 61, picked up the intoxicated woman in Richmond in August, as she was unable to drive herself home due to her level of inebriation.
According to reports, the woman passed out shortly after the ride began, and while she was unconscious, Partin allegedly drove to a secluded spot hidden by bushes and sexually assaulted her. The victim later woke up in a parking lot and demanded to be taken home, but out of fear of letting the driver know where she lived, she asked to be dropped off nearby and ran the rest of the way.
After seeking medical evaluation and contacting the authorities, it was revealed that GPS data from Uber corroborated the victim’s account of the incident. Surveillance footage also showed the vehicle parked in the lot for approximately 25 minutes, further supporting the woman’s claims.
Partin eventually confessed to the crime after agreeing to take a polygraph test. He has since been charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy of a person incapable of consent and was taken into custody at the Madison County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
The shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can arise when using rideshare services, highlighting the importance of staying vigilant and prioritizing personal safety at all times.
