Justin Thomas exhales after strong first round at Players Championship

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — Embarrassing.

Justin Thomas didn’t mince words when reflecting on his performance at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week. After shooting back-to-back 79s and finishing dead last, the 32-year-old golfer described the experience as “humiliating.”

Known for his fiery competitiveness, Thomas was visibly frustrated with his performance on the course. However, he acknowledged the need to give himself some grace and patience as he continues to recover from microdiscectomy surgery on his back, which sidelined him for six months.

As a two-time major champion and the defending champion of The Players Championship, Thomas has high expectations for himself. The road to recovery has been challenging, both physically and mentally, but he remains determined to bounce back stronger than ever.

Despite the setback at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Thomas is focused on the future and is eager to put the disappointment behind him. With the support of his team and fans, he is ready to face the upcoming challenges head-on and prove that he is still a force to be reckoned with on the PGA Tour.
