Rachel Lindsay Says ‘Bachelor’ Franchise Is Over After Taylor Frankie Paul

Bachelor Nation Reacts to ABC Cancelling “The Bachelorette”

Bachelor Nation was left in shock after ABC made the decision to pull the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette” from the schedule. The move came following the leak of a disturbing video showing a 2023 domestic dispute involving the show’s lead, Taylor Frankie Paul, and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.

One of the franchise’s former leads, Rachel Lindsay, found out about the cancellation while recording an episode of the “Bachelor Party” podcast.

Lindsay, who rose to fame on Season 21 of “The Bachelor” and later became the lead on Season 13 of “The Bachelorette,” was taken aback by the news. The announcement interrupted the podcast recording, leaving Lindsay visibly stunned.

Expressing her disbelief, Lindsay said, “The name ‘Bachelorette,’ ‘Bachelor’ is tainted at this point. How do you move forward past that? You can’t.” She questioned the decision-making process that led to this situation and pondered the future of the franchise.

Lindsay also highlighted the impact of the cancellation on the show’s crew and staff, emphasizing the potential job losses. She criticized the network for not properly vetting the situation and ensuring the safety of all involved.

The controversy surrounding Paul and Mortensen’s relationship had been previously known, with Paul facing legal trouble before the birth of their son. Despite these issues, the video of the domestic dispute was only made public recently, leading to the drastic decision to cancel the show.

Prior to the cancellation, filming of another show featuring Paul, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” had also been halted due to similar allegations of domestic violence.

In response to the cancellation, Paul’s representative released a statement emphasizing her commitment to ensuring her family’s safety and seeking protection from further harm.
