Lungi, a restaurant with Sri Lankan/South Indian cuisine and Michelin “bib gourmand” accolades, is expanding from Manhattan to Queens.

The restaurant, maintaining its location at 1166 First Ave. on the Upper East Side, is opening a second branch at 31-19 Newtown Lane in Astoria. The 15-year lease covers 5,000 square feet, making it one of the largest dining venues in the neighborhood. The annual rent was set at $400,000.

The landlord, Phoenix Management, was represented by Meridian Retail Leasing president James Famularo along with Jacob Mayer and Marcelo Demoraes. Famularo highlighted Lungi, led by Mervyn Winston and chef/partner Albin Vincent, as a culinary destination that brings together a diverse group of chefs with unique traditions and techniques.
