Paul Wright Hired to Develop Live Programming at Plimsoll Productions

Plimsoll Productions, a prominent part of ITV Studios, has announced the addition of executive producer Paul Wright to their team. Wright will be focusing on developing live programming across various genres such as adventure, factual entertainment, and natural history.

Wright’s most recent project was “Skyscraper Live with Alex Honnold,” a live event produced by Plimsoll for Netflix. The show featured free solo climber Alex Honnold scaling one of the tallest skyscrapers in Taipei, Taiwan, captivating a global audience.

With over 25 years of experience as an executive producer and showrunner, Wright is a Royal Television Society and Rose d’Or winner. Some of his notable credits include producing shows like “Bigheads,” “The Million Pound Cube,” “Sounds Like Friday Night,” “Pride of Britain,” and “Comic Relief’s Big Chat with Graham Norton.” He has also worked on international projects such as “US Sing On! with Titus Burgess” and “US Lingo with RuPaul.”

In a statement, Wright expressed his excitement about joining Plimsoll Productions, stating, “Live television is where I live and breathe, and ‘Skyscraper Live’ showed me that Plimsoll is the perfect home for that ambition. The talent here is extraordinary, and the canvas is as wide as it gets.”

James Smith, head of adventure and live at Plimsoll, praised Wright’s performance on “Skyscraper Live,” calling it the most demanding live production they have ever made. Smith highlighted Wright’s range across genres, editorial judgment, and ability to handle real-time pressure as key strengths that make him the perfect fit for the team.

Plimsoll Productions recently received six Emmy Awards for their show “A Real Bug’s Life,” available on Disney+ and National Geographic. They are currently working on “Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston” for the same platforms, along with several other live projects in development and production.

With Wright’s expertise and Plimsoll’s commitment to creative excellence, the future looks bright for the production company as they continue to push boundaries in live television programming.
