Dubois scores twice in final period to rally Victoire past Sirens 3-1 in Takeover Tour stop
The Montreal Victoire staged an impressive comeback with a three-goal third period to defeat the New York Sirens 3-1 in a thrilling Takeover Tour match at Little Caesars Arena. Catherine Dubois was the hero of the game, scoring twice to secure the victory for Montreal.
With this win, Montreal (12-4-2-5) closed the gap to just two points behind the leading Boston Fleet as the regular season enters its final three weeks. New York (8-0-3-12) took an early 1-0 lead when Casey O’Brien capitalized on a rebound from a shot by Jaime Bourbonnais. However, Montreal fought back in the third period, with Dubois netting the equalizer and then securing the lead with her fourth goal of the season. Natalie Mlýnková and Shiann Darkangelo played crucial roles in setting up Dubois’ goals.
Laura Stacey sealed the victory for Montreal with her sixth goal of the season, adding an insurance goal in the third period. Goalkeeper Ann-Renée Desbiens made 23 saves to preserve the win for Montreal, while Kayle Osborne stopped 26 shots for New York.
Despite New York’s strong start in the first period, where they outshot Montreal 11-2, Montreal dominated the later stages of the game. The Sirens had not been shut out in the first two periods since January, highlighting Montreal’s resilience and determination in this matchup.
Looking ahead, New York will host the Minnesota Frost next Wednesday, while Montreal will welcome the Vancouver Goldeneyes on the same day. The victory for Montreal sets up an exciting end to the regular season as they continue to chase the top spot in the standings.
