FedEx to offer same-day delivery as it battles with Amazon and other retailers
FedEx Introduces Same-Day Delivery Option in Partnership with OneRail
In response to the growing demand for expedited deliveries, FedEx has announced a new partnership with logistics company OneRail to offer same-day delivery services. This move comes shortly after Amazon’s introduction of expedited deliveries across the U.S.
Retailers working with FedEx will now have the option to offer same-day shipping to their customers. During the checkout process on the retailer’s website, shoppers can choose between two-hour or end-of-day delivery for their packages. FedEx will then coordinate with other delivery providers in its network to ensure near-real-time tracking updates for the shipment.
A spokesperson from FedEx clarified that this service is targeted towards retailers and other business customers, rather than individual consumers shipping through FedEx.com or from FedEx Office locations.
OneRail, based in Orlando, Florida, leverages artificial intelligence to streamline deliveries. The company’s client roster includes major brands like Lowe’s and PepsiCo. Despite multiple attempts to reach OneRail for comment, they did not respond.
With competitors like Amazon and Walmart also expanding their same-day delivery offerings, FedEx is focused on enhancing its delivery speed and efficiency. Amazon recently introduced one-hour and three-hour delivery options, the latter being available in thousands of cities nationwide.
Meanwhile, Walmart has been ramping up its delivery services to include faster shipping options throughout the day, including early morning hours and late evening deliveries.
