Maps: How Much Have Gas Prices Risen Across The U.S.?

The cost of fuel in the United States is currently increasing, with gasoline prices steadily rising since the U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran began in February. The disruption of oil supplies in the Middle East has resulted in daily changes to gas station prices across the country for over a month.

However, these price increases are not uniform. In California, where gas prices are typically the highest in the nation, the average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded gas has exceeded $5. On the other hand, in Oklahoma, the price has been closer to $3 per gallon.

These disparities can be attributed to regional variations in taxes, distribution costs, and refining margins. Nevertheless, the underlying factor influencing gas prices worldwide is the supply of oil.

Despite being a net exporter of petroleum products, the United States still imports millions of barrels of oil daily for refining, often blending it with domestic crude. The cost of these imported barrels is susceptible to fluctuations in the global market.

If the conflict persists, fuel prices are likely to continue impacting Americans’ finances.
