Trump says ‘we’re blowing up the whole country’ if no Iran deal is reached in 48 hours
President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to Iran, threatening to “blow up the entire country” if a peace deal is not reached within the next 48 hours. The president made this declaration during an interview with ABC News, stating that Iran must agree to open the critical Strait of Hormuz or face severe consequences.
Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that Iran’s infrastructure has been severely impacted and will continue to suffer if a deal is not reached soon. He warned that every day Iran delays, they will have to rebuild bridges and power plants, further exacerbating their economic and social challenges.
The president extended the deadline for Iran to comply with his demands to Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. He expressed confidence that a deal could be reached by Monday, but also indicated that if Iran fails to make concessions, he is prepared to take drastic measures, including military action and seizing control of the country’s oil resources.
In response to Trump’s threats, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian parliament, condemned the president’s aggressive stance, accusing him of dragging the United States and the region into turmoil. Ghalibaf called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, emphasizing the need to respect the rights of the Iranian people.
The negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are being facilitated by the Pakistani government, with a 15-point proposal on the table to end the conflict. However, Iran has rejected the proposal, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is open only to ships from friendly nations and closed to those deemed hostile.
Despite escalating tensions, Trump remains optimistic about the possibility of a peaceful resolution. He cited recent gestures by Iran, such as allowing oil tankers to pass through the strait, as signs of progress in the negotiations. However, he also reiterated that military action remains on the table if Iran does not cooperate.
As the situation continues to unfold, the international community is closely monitoring developments in the region. The prospect of a military confrontation between the U.S. and Iran looms large, raising concerns about the potential for further escalation and instability in the Middle East.
