First photos of boat Lynette Hooker was sailing when she vanished in Bahamas
The picturesque cove off Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas was the setting for the mysterious disappearance of Lynette Hooker, a 55-year-old Michigan mom, on April 4. The first photos of the sailboat that Lynette and her husband Brian were sailing on before her vanishing act were captured by The Post, revealing a vessel named “The Soulmate” still flying a flag that boldly declares, “A Pirate’s Life for Me.”
The 45-foot sailboat was anchored in the serene waters of the harbor, offering a glimpse into the tragic couple’s daily life at sea. The boat was equipped with two paddle boards, a grill, and workout equipment, along with quirky details like a black sail adorned with an image of Cookie Monster. The deck was adorned with a tattered American flag, a buddha statue, conch shells, and an aloe plant, creating a cozy and lived-in atmosphere.
Brian Hooker, 59, recounted to authorities that Lynette disappeared after falling overboard from an 8-foot dinghy while returning to the sailboat in rough waters near Elbow Cay. He was detained in connection to her disappearance but was released without charges as the investigation continues. However, authorities have hinted that he may face further charges as the case unfolds.
The captain of a boat that transported The Post to the harbor expressed doubts about Brian’s version of events, highlighting the calm conditions in the cove and questioning the need to use a dinghy in such tranquil waters. He mentioned that it would be unusual for someone to take a dinghy out in that area, as there are always other boats around that could provide assistance if needed.
Despite Brian’s claims that his focus was on finding his missing wife, he left the Bahamas to attend to another family emergency shortly after. The investigation into Lynette Hooker’s disappearance continues, with lingering questions surrounding the circumstances of her vanishing act on the sailboat “The Soulmate.”
