Sicko FedEx driver Tanner Horner had sex with his fiancée hours after murdering little Athena Strand
Killer FedEx driver Tanner Horner shocked the jury when he revealed that he went home and had sex with his fiancée just hours after he kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and murdered 7-year-old Athena Strand. This disturbing detail came to light during a testimony from forensic psychiatrist Dr. Eileen Ryan, who interviewed Horner multiple times in jail after his arrest for the heinous crime in Texas in 2022.
According to Dr. Ryan, Horner made the twisted claim that he had sex with his partner that night to prove that he wasn’t a pedophile, despite admitting to sexually assaulting Athena. The psychiatrist noted that Horner did not exhibit consistent arousal towards children, which is a defining characteristic of pedophiles.
During his interviews with Dr. Ryan, Horner disclosed that he forced Athena into his van after she allegedly witnessed him snorting cocaine while delivering a Christmas gift to her family’s home. He claimed that he felt compelled to silence her to avoid losing his job and contact with his son, leading to the tragic events that unfolded.
Initially, Horner had falsely told authorities that he accidentally hit Athena with his van and then strangled her in a panic after delivering the package. He even blamed his alter ego, “Zero,” for the murder. However, surveillance footage contradicted his claims, showing Athena unharmed inside the delivery truck after her abduction.
Athena’s lifeless body was discovered two days later in a rural creek, with the medical examiner determining that she died from blunt force trauma, smothering, and strangulation.
Despite Horner’s attempts to justify his actions and avoid being labeled a pedophile, the evidence against him is overwhelming. As the jury deliberates on whether he will face the death penalty, the heartbreaking story of Athena Strand serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of senseless acts of violence.
