I think the fact that we have players who have been in big moments, who have won championships, who have been in the playoffs, and who have been in those high-pressure situations before, that’s invaluable. That’s something you can’t teach. And then the versatility. We have players who can play multiple positions, who can do multiple things on the court. I think that’s going to be key for us, especially in today’s game where positionless basketball is becoming more and more prevalent. So, having players who can do a little bit of everything is going to be really important for us.
Q: What are your goals for this season?
A: Our goal is to win a championship. That’s why we’re here. That’s why we put in the work every day. That’s why we go through the grind of the season, the ups and downs, the injuries, the tough losses. It’s all with the ultimate goal of winning a championship. And I think we have the talent, the experience, and the mindset to do it. It’s not going to be easy, there are a lot of great teams in this league, but we believe in ourselves and we believe in each other. So, that’s our goal, and we’re going to do everything we can to achieve it.
Q: How do you handle the pressure of coaching in New York City?
A: I think the pressure is a part of the job, especially in a city like New York. But I try not to focus on it too much. I try to focus on the process, on getting better every day, on working with my players and my staff to be the best team we can be. If we take care of the little things, if we focus on the details, if we stay connected and trust each other, then the results will take care of themselves. So, I try not to let the pressure get to me. I just focus on the task at hand and try to do my job to the best of my ability.
Q: What message do you have for Liberty fans?
A: I would just say thank you for your support. Thank you for believing in us, for cheering us on, for being there for us through the ups and downs. We feel your energy, we feel your passion, and we’re going to do everything we can to make you proud. We’re going to leave it all on the court every single night, and we’re going to fight for you, for this city, for this team. So, thank you, and let’s go out there and win a championship together.
