Jensen Huang joins Trump’s China trip after the U.S. president called the Nvidia CEO

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Joins President Trump’s Delegation to China

Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, surprised many by joining U.S. President Donald Trump’s trip to China, despite initial reports suggesting he had not been invited. According to a source familiar with the situation, Trump personally reached out to Huang after seeing media coverage of his absence and extended an invitation for him to join the delegation.

Huang quickly made his way to Alaska to board Air Force One with the rest of the delegation. Trump is leading a group of more than a dozen U.S. executives to Beijing for meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week.

A spokesperson for Nvidia confirmed that Huang was attending the summit at the invitation of President Trump to show support for America and the administration’s goals. While the reason for Huang’s last-minute inclusion was not provided, Trump took to social media to deny reports that the Nvidia CEO had not been invited. He emphasized the importance of opening up China for U.S. businesses and expressed his desire for President Xi to facilitate this during their meetings.

The presence of Huang, whose company’s advanced chips are crucial for AI development, comes at a time when U.S. restrictions on technology exports to China have been tightening. Nvidia has faced challenges in selling its chips to China, with government-approved versions still awaiting approval for entry into the country.

China, on the other hand, has been investing in developing its own semiconductor industry and reducing its dependence on foreign technologies like Nvidia’s. Despite these challenges, experts see Huang’s inclusion in the delegation as a positive step towards potential agreements on export controls and technology trade between the two countries.

As the summit unfolds, all eyes will be on the discussions between President Trump, President Xi, and the accompanying U.S. business representatives, including Jensen Huang. Stay tuned for updates on this significant diplomatic and economic event.
