Exotic snakes left for officers chasing suspect on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Snakes caused quite a stir on the streets of Hollywood when a man abandoned them while fleeing from Los Angeles Police Department officers. The man was caught “parading” the exotic animals around for money on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, prompting the officers to intervene.

The LAPD Hollywood took to social media to share the bizarre encounter, revealing that the man, dubbed as “Snake Señor,” made a run for it on foot, leaving the snakes behind. The department humorously commented, “Nice try, compadre,” highlighting the unusual circumstances of the incident.

It remains unclear what charges the man would face or if he has been apprehended. Owning certain exotic pets without a permit is illegal in California, and commercial activities in the area require vendors to obtain the necessary permits.

The officers stumbled upon the man while patrolling the popular tourist spot, only to have him escape and abandon the large snakes. The department jokingly added, “Looks like the only thing getting squeezed today was his escape plan,” showcasing their lighthearted approach to the situation.

The LAPD’s social media post was accompanied by the song “La Culebra” by Banda Machos, which warns people to watch out for snakes. The department playfully advised, “‘Ay la Culebra!’ (Watch out for that Snake!)”

While owning a snake is not illegal in California, specific species require a “restricted species permit” with associated fees and regulations. It’s essential for pet owners to adhere to these guidelines to ensure the well-being of the animals and comply with state regulations.
