Bulgaria Wins 2026 Eurovision Song Contest
Bulgaria’s Dara Wins 70th Eurovision Song Contest
Bulgaria’s Dara has emerged victorious at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest with her captivating song “Banagaranga,” earning an impressive 516 points.
Following closely behind was Israel’s Noam Bettan, securing the second spot with 343 points for his track “Michelle.” Alexandra Căpitănescu from Romania clinched third place with 296 points for her performance of “Choke Me.”
Unfortunately, the U.K. found themselves at the bottom of the rankings with Sam Battle, known as Look Mum No Computer, and his entry “Eins, Zwei, Drei.”
Australia and Italy rounded out the top five, with Delta Goodrem’s “Eclipse” and Sal Da Vinci’s “Per Sempre Sì” claiming the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
Sal Da Vinci’s victory at the Sanremo Music Festival earlier this year granted him the opportunity to represent Italy at Eurovision. Other notable contestants included Cyprus’s Antigoni and Australia’s Delta Goodrem, known for her role in the popular show “Neighbours.”
The event took place at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria, under the theme “United by Music,” commemorating the 70th anniversary of Eurovision. The hosts for the night were Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski.
Despite some controversies and protests, Israel’s Noam Bettan put up a commendable performance, finishing in second place. However, it was Bulgaria’s Dara who stole the show with a historic win, marking the country’s first triumph in Eurovision.
With 35 countries participating in the voting process, the competition saw a balanced combination of jury and audience votes determining the final outcome.
Last year’s winner, Switzerland’s JJ, was present at the event to pass on the coveted trophy to Dara. JJ’s victory in 2025 with “Wasted Love” remains a memorable moment in Eurovision history.
Eurovision, established in 1956, continues to be a prestigious platform for showcasing international musical talent, making it the longest-running annual televised music competition worldwide.
