Financial Services Firm Experiences Ransomware-Related Cybersecurity Incident
A recent cybersecurity incident at a financial services firm has potentially exposed the personal information of 123,158 individuals, with 120 Maine residents among those affected, according to the Maine Attorney General’s office.
American Lending Center, based in Irvine, California, disclosed that the breach took place between July 24, 2025, and July 30, 2025. The firm discovered the unauthorized access to its internal network on July 27, 2025.
Following an investigation, American Lending Center determined that the breach involved ransomware being deployed and unauthorized access to certain files containing personal data. The affected individuals were notified starting April 28, 2026, after the company completed its review of the compromised data on April 8, 2026.
The potentially exposed information included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and other sensitive personal data. The firm has since enhanced its security measures and implemented additional safeguards to prevent future incidents.
American Lending Center is offering identity theft protection services through IDX to the affected individuals. These services include credit monitoring, CyberScan monitoring, fully managed identity theft recovery services, and a $1,000,000 insurance reimbursement policy.
