SpaceX successfully launched its massive Starship rocket on Friday following a first attempt that was postponed due to technical issues a day earlier.

A 90-minute launch window opened at 6:30 p.m. ET, and the flight took off on time from SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Texas.

The test flight of Starship V3 marked a significant milestone for SpaceX as the company prepares for its upcoming IPO. The public market debut is expected to raise around $75 billion next month after SpaceX’s merger with xAI earlier this year.

NASA administrator Jared Isaacman joined SpaceX employees at Starbase to witness the launch and celebrate the achievements of the test flight.

Despite successfully deploying dummy satellites into orbit, SpaceX faced challenges with propulsion targets and Superheavy first stage issues during the flight.

Starship ultimately splashed down in the Indian Ocean after hitting Mach 7 speeds and successfully demonstrating some of its capabilities.

SpaceX’s IPO filing highlighted Starship’s potential to revolutionize space travel and enhance its Starlink internet service business.

The company plans to launch more satellites using Starship to expand its network and provide better internet coverage.

Starship’s fully reusable design, Super Heavy booster, and Raptor engines make it a key component for future space missions, including NASA’s moon landing in 2028.

Friday’s test flight was SpaceX’s first for Starship in seven months, showcasing progress and advancements despite past setbacks.

Overall, SpaceX’s ongoing efforts with Starship demonstrate its commitment to innovation and space exploration.
