Utah toddlers kidnapped by broke dad found 800 miles away in Mexico after mom’s desperate plea

The search for two missing baby brothers allegedly kidnapped by their father in Utah has come to a happy conclusion, as the boys were found safe in San Felipe, Mexico, nearly 800 miles away from their home. Will Richman, 1, and Wesley Richman, 10 months old, were located by authorities, putting an end to a frantic search effort after their father, Dan Stephen Richman, took them without permission.

Dan Stephen Richman, who had recently quit his job and sold off his belongings, was taken into custody upon the discovery of the boys in Mexico. The children’s mother, who is embroiled in a custody dispute with Richman, had made a public plea for their safe return, urging him to bring the boys to a secure location.

The boys were reported missing when Richman failed to show up for a scheduled custody exchange with their mother. Concerns grew when it was discovered that Richman had emptied his home in Saratoga Springs and left with the children. The mother, desperate for answers, reached out to authorities and the public for help in locating her sons.

As the search intensified, it was revealed that Richman’s financial situation was dire, with mounting debts and a mortgage in jeopardy. He had taken out a second mortgage on his home and given away valuable assets as collateral to friends. His sudden decision to quit his job was linked to the ongoing legal battles with his ex-girlfriend over the custody of their children.

Authorities issued an Amber alert for the missing boys, citing Richman’s erratic behavior and the potential danger they faced. As investigators traced Richman’s movements to Mexico, the boys were eventually located in San Felipe. Richman now faces charges of custodial interference for his actions.

The mother expressed relief and gratitude upon learning of the boys’ safe recovery, thanking law enforcement and the community for their efforts in bringing them home. The family can now begin the process of reuniting and ensuring the well-being of the young brothers after this harrowing ordeal.
