Trump floats replacing Freedom 250 concert with massive MAGA rally
President Trump recently suggested the idea of hosting a massive MAGA rally to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary after several artists backed out of a planned concert this summer. In a post on Truth Social, Trump proposed scrapping the Great American State Fair’s Freedom 250 concerts and replacing them with a rally instead. He criticized a federal judge for ordering his name to be removed from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The Great American State Fair is a large-scale national celebration planned on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as part of the America 250 celebration. Scheduled to run from June 25 through July 10, 2026, the event faced setbacks when several artists, including Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Young MC, Morris Day and The Time, and C+C Music Factory, withdrew from performing.
Despite the withdrawals, rapper Vanilla Ice expressed his honor in participating in the event. Trump also hinted at the possibility of delivering a major speech in place of the concert, citing concerns about artists getting “the yips” before their performances. He mentioned the potential of holding a rally on June 24 to kick off the festivities.
Trump emphasized his preference for being surrounded by happy, smart, successful people who know how to win, rather than artists who are not content with their roles. Ultimately, Freedom 250 announced that Trump would indeed deliver a speech ahead of the Great American State Fair to mark America’s 250th birthday.
The event is expected to be a grand celebration of the nation’s history and achievements, with Trump’s presence adding a significant political element to the festivities.
