FCC Boss Brendan Carr Slams Scott Pelley as ‘Completely Out of Touch’

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr recently criticized journalist Scott Pelley for his comments in a New York Times profile where he expressed surprise at being fired from “60 Minutes.” Carr took to Twitter to highlight the disconnect between legacy journalists and the general public, stating that such behavior would not be tolerated in any other profession.

Pelley’s dismissal from “60 Minutes” came after a public clash with the show’s new executive producer, Nick Bilton, whom Pelley accused of being unqualified for the job. Bilton, who was brought on board by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, responded by terminating Pelley’s employment due to his opposition to the show’s direction.

In his interview with the Times, Pelley also criticized Paramount-Skydance, CBS News’ parent company, calling for Weiss to be removed from her position. He claimed that the network was lacking in experienced leadership and accused it of displaying a subtle political bias that was previously unseen at “60 Minutes.”

Pelley’s remarks have sparked a debate about the state of journalism and the influence of corporate interests on news reporting. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining journalistic integrity and objectivity in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
