The New York Knicks made history on Sunday by clinching their first NBA Finals win in 54 years, sparking wild celebrations across the city. However, the festivities quickly turned chaotic, with the NYPD making dozens of arrests overnight.

A total of 63 people were arrested, and reports of four stabbings and a shooting added to the mayhem. Charges ranged from assault on a police officer to criminal possession of a gun, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration.

During the chaos, 10 members of the NYPD were injured, with one officer being struck by a glass bottle. Videos circulating online captured scenes of shameless destruction, including school buses and personal vehicles being vandalized.

In a particularly alarming incident, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the foot amidst the chaos. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Additionally, five school buses used to transport World Cup soccer fans to MetLife Stadium were set on fire or destroyed by rampaging fans.

The aftermath of the Knicks’ historic win was marred by violence and destruction, highlighting the need for increased security measures during future celebrations. The NYPD is working to address the incidents and ensure the safety of all residents and visitors in the city.
