Questlove Pacts With North Road for Talk and Game Show ‘The Next Move’
Questlove, the renowned drummer of The Roots, is set to embark on a new venture with his upcoming talk show titled “The Next Move.” Developed in collaboration with North Road Company and Two One Five Entertainment, the show is inspired by Questlove’s personal celebrity game nights.
“The Next Move” will feature Questlove and three guests engaging in a variety of games, from classics like Uno and Jenga to original creations by Questlove himself. As they play, the guests will also share insights about their lives and careers, creating a unique blend of entertainment and conversation. The show will debut on Questlove’s new channel, Do You Want More, which is produced under his Two One Five banner.
Questlove expressed his excitement about the show, stating, “Out of all my social experiments, game nights have been some of my favorites in my career. With ‘The Next Move,’ I’m bringing friends together to play and talk and see what happens. You can learn a lot about a person when they’re playing a game, and now we’re inviting you to come join us in the conversation too.”
The idea for “The Next Move” stemmed from Questlove’s game nights that he started hosting in his apartment in the 2010s, which gained popularity during the pandemic. Past guests at these game nights have included celebrities like Taylor Swift, Jason Sudeikis, Lupita Nyong’o, and Megan Thee Stallion. The lineup for the first season of the show, developed in collaboration with Amazon, is yet to be announced.
Two One Five Entertainment, the production company founded by Questlove and Black Thought of The Roots, is known for creating content that is deeply rooted in culture and storytelling. “The Next Move” is their latest unscripted media endeavor and will be featured on their new channel, Do You Want More, which sets the stage for additional digital content from the company.
The series is co-produced by Two One Five Entertainment and Connor Schell’s Full Day, a division of Words + Pictures. Questlove and The Roots have been on a successful streak, with recent notable performances at the Obama Presidential Center Library opening and a historic collaboration with Jay-Z at the annual Roots Picnic.
Questlove’s creative pursuits also extend to filmmaking, with the release of his documentary “Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial vs That’s the Weight of the World)” in June. Fans can look forward to more upcoming projects from Questlove, including the highly anticipated follow-up to his previous documentaries.
